Love On The Ninth Floor by Aries Skye

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Dr. Nissi gets stuck in the elevator at work and after the maintenance department cannot get her out, they call the fire department. Even though Nissi is tired, dirty, frustrated, and injured from being stuck for over an hour she can’t miss the fine fireman that rescues her. To find the man who came to her rescue Nissi uses her TikTok fame to spread the word that she is looking for the fireman to thank him. After finding his identity Kannon and Nissi agree to meet up for drinks. The meet up turns into a 5-hour date because neither of them wants their time to end. After an amazing date Nissi wants to see where things can go with them, but Kannon drops a bomb on Nissi causing her to never want to see him again. The only problem is they can’t seem to shake each other.

Listen Kannon had me, I felt betrayed like I was Nissi when he dropped his news on sis after the amazing date they had. Now he did redeem himself in the end, but I was still looking at him sideways because WTF. I loved that Nissi was a TikToking Dentist, sis was about her business, and she did not play with her professional career.

In the beginning I felt bad for Benji because I already knew it wasn’t going to work out well for “Mr. Nice Guy”, but then even the nice guy let me down. I absolutely loved the brotherhood Kannon had with his brother and best friend Jovan. All men need a Kingston and Jovan in their lives. Kingston was a rider for his brother, but he also let him know in his own brotherly way when he needed to figure his life out. Jovan on the other hand did not back down when Kannon was on BS. Jovan set Kannon straight while also letting him know they were boys so when he was ready, he would still be there for him. Nissi had a tight sisterhood as well with her sisters and friends riding for her and I loved that for her. The back and forth between Nissi and her sisters gave me all the feels.

I was glad when Nissi and Kannon finally got it together because they put me through it, but I enjoyed the ride. I am not usually a slow burn kind of girl, but the drama in between kept me very engaged in the book and made Nissi and Kannon’s declaration of love that much sweeter. Nissi’s zany personality made me chuckle and kept me entertained. This was a great debut novel, and I can’t wait to see what happens between the potential couple introduced in the book, I already have my eye on Aries Skye’ next release.
