First let me say THANK YOU for taking the time out of your day to read my very first blog!

WELCOME!!

My name is Quieonna and I am so excited to be getting my blog up and running. I have always wanted to start my own blog but just never really made the time to do it. I woke up on January 3rd and literally said to myself “you need to stop making excuses and stop worrying about if people will read your blog and just do it for yourself”. So I did it and I must say I am very proud of how it came out, even though I still don’t know if people will read it 🤣🤣.

I have always had a passion for reading and writing. I have been reading since I was a little girl, it was a great way for me to escape the world around me and as I got older that love for reading has only grown. I had to stop reading for about 5 to 6 years to pursue my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees while working fulltime but last August after graduation the first thing I did was went and did a book haul. I was so excited to get back to it I didn’t know where to start so I started with two books I read in high school that changed the reading game for me, The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah and Flyy girl by Omar Tyree. Those books set the mood for me to get back into my favorite pastime and I haven’t stopped since.

I usually write down my thoughts after reading a book and figured I would share those thoughts with my fellow book lovers. I started a bookstagram in November of 2020 and decided to take it a little further with a blog this year, so Melanin Book Lover was born!
