Love & Law by Asia Monique

Rating: 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

Synopsis: The Edwards family all work in law enforcement and are law abiding citizens. The Black and King family are all on the other side of the law from infamous New York crime families. Some how the four Edwards siblings are drawn to the Black and King siblings. As the Edwards family secrets come out they find themselves making life changing decisions all in the name of Love and Law.

Opinion: This was a great way to start my 2021 reads. I discovered this book in December and added it to my TBR after I finished all my holiday reads and I am so glad this was one of the first books I picked up for 2021. There was so much going on in this book that I just couldn’t put it down.

There were four main couples in this book Jameson Edwards and Amina Black, Jasly Edwards and Ashton Black, Jordan Edwards and Jazmine King, and Josephina Edwards and Matteo King. I liked that the women were some bad bitches and really didn’t need their men to look out for them especially Amina and Jazzy, they were gun slinging woman who could hold their own against anything that was put in front of them. Asia touched on what a man goes through after the woman they love has an abortion, although it was brief it was relatable and gave you a little insight on a mans perspective. Child abuse was briefly touched on as well and gave a perspective on how that can affect someone in their adult life, again it was brief but was still very relatable.

The relationships were great and of course I enjoy a good romance but what I liked the most about this book was the sibling bonds between each of the families. No matter what side of the law they were on they were close to their siblings and nothing was going to change that. So even if they didn’t agree on their love choices they were going to support the other, they also protected their family so they didnt let their love choices come in between the family either, they were all going to find a happy balance no matter what. When the secrets started to unravel in the Edwards family I was like yeah they seemed to good to be true but they weren’t horrible secrets that they should have been ashamed of.

I was left with wanting more of these families, I mean I have to know what happens between Sheldon Black and Sutton Harper’s betrothment and why Sheldon agreed to it. I just know that will be good, I haven’t read a story of an arranged marriage so I will be all into that one.

This was my first Asia Monique read and I really enjoyed it. It was hard for me to put the iPad down until I was finished, but then I was left with wanting more. I read this through my kindle unlimited subscription but I will be purchasing the physical book for my bookshelf and to re-read it when I am not in the mood for something new. I will also be checking out Asia Monique Flower Sisters series I hear those are good as well.
