Maybe Next Time by Christina C. Jones

Rating: 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤

After going through a tragedy together Denver and Kensa start having problems in their marriage and Kensa thinks the only way to solve these problems is by getting a divorce. Denver on the other hand doesn’t want to lose his wife of 7 years so he does what he has to do to make sure this divorce doesn’t happen.

You know when your in the middle of a good book but one your favorite authors drops a book and you put down your current read and pick up the new release…that what this was for me and I didn’t feel bad about it.

Listen I knew when I saw the cover weeks ago that Denver was going to be added to my book bae list because I mean look at him looking all rugged and sexy, well after reading the first chapter I knew I was right. Denver gave me all the same bad boy vibes that my all time favorite Kingston gave me and then I read about his connection to King and it all made sense. I loved his aggressive we are about to work this out now approach.

Kensa’s struggles tugged at my heartstrings because it was so relatable and it was hard not to sympathize with her behavior towards Denver. I liked Denver from the very first chapter but then again I am a woman who doesn’t mind a man putting his foot down when its necessary and in this case it was necessary. The very first chapter had me hooked and I didn’t put the iPad down until I was finished. Their marital issues could have been solved with communication but it’s easy to lose sight of what is needed to hold your marriage together when you both are dealing with a tragedy in different ways.

CCJ has a way of pulling you into a story and holding your full attention until the story is complete, and even when your finished reading you have to sit and think about it for a minute because she just knows how to leave an impression on her readers after every read. This was a short read but I don’t feel like there was anything missing, sis gave us a quick but thorough backstory on Kensa and Denver’s marriage so I don’t feel like I was left without the full picture of their story. Now of course I want more of them but that’s because sis made me just love this couple so I could read about them all day but the story was complete so I will let it go. If you are looking for a quick read about a couple trying to save their marriage this is the one fo you.
