Genre: Romance
Giselle moved back home to restart her life after things didn’t end well with her and her last job. It’s been three-years since she’s been gone and three-years since she saw Jacobi, her best friend fiancé’s brother. Jacobi spent the last three years away but now that he’s home he is determined to get his life on track and stay out the streets. Giselle hated Jacobi’s asshole ways while Jacobi didn’t like her smart mouth but they quickly learn to deal with each other which then causes their true feelings to show.
I loved Jacobi’s character he was getting a second chance at life and he was determined to turn his life around. Giselle was also getting a second chance after being forced to move back home when she was fired, I loved her focus and while she was dealing with some things alone she never lost sight of her goals. They were so cute together, their little play hatred for each other was over real quick. I loved how supportive Jacobi was even when he had his own issues to fix he was there for Giselle. Giselle gave Jacobi the push he needed to handle his family issues.
What I liked the most about this read was how real Tay Mo’nae kept this story. Jacobi had valid reason for his feelings towards his sister and it wasn’t an oh I’m sorry bro I did you wrong and Jacobi forgives her and they live happily ever after. Sis messed up and Jacobi kept it real he was angry and it would take time for him to get over what she did.
Another good Christmas read with a bit of an urban twist.
