Two Hot Kisses by Yahrah St. John
Synopsis: Sasha and Brandon were college friends until time and distance happened and they lost contact. At Brandon’s book signing they reconnect and sparks fly. Now that they have grown and are both single they explore that attraction.
Opinion: This was a cute short.I like how Brandon went after what he wanted, he didn’t pursue Sasha in college but he wasn’t going to let that happen again. Sasha was worried about ruining their friendship because Brandon had always been there for her when she needed him the most. Even though they lost contact with each other for years their friendship and connection didn’t change when they saw each other. Sasha wasn’t where she wanted to be in her life. She was really disappointed with where she was and the struggles she was going through, but Brandon was so supportive and gave her the push she needed to build her confidence back up.
I wasn’t as drawn in as I would have liked and it didn’t keep my attention for very long. It took me a little longer to read this short because I just kept getting distracted easily.
One More Drink by Elle Wright
Synopsis: It’s about to strike midnight and all Veronica can think about is getting her bartender and friend Juke at midnight. Juke has wanted Veronica for a while and decides he is going to act on his desires this New Year.
Opinion: This story started with the anticipation of a New Year kiss then quickly let me down with some humor. I mean really a forehead kiss tho. Veronica had me chuckling the entire book especially when she had her allergic reaction. Juke was such a gentleman, I was like boy if you don’t go get what you want NOW, but he was cute how he was obeying the lessons his late grandmother taught him. Elle told us before the story that this was a part of a series with three books before this one and I am definitely going to check those out. I don’t feel like I was missing any of the back story even though I didn’t read the previous three books. If anything it made me curious about the other books and about the siblings father. Based on this short those are sure to be full of family drama which I am here for so those are now on my TBR.
This was a really good read. I read a short story from Elle Wright before in the Carnival Chronicles and this was a good reminder for me to check out her catalog because I enjoy both of those reads.
Let me know on IG what you thought about these reads!
