So I am all caught up on Skye Moon’s catalog and I am slick mad about it. I have really enjoyed reading her work. The first time I came across Skye Moon’s work was when I read Wicked Christmas in December of 2020 and I was hooked from that moment. I read Skye Moon’s catalog mostly in publication order, I say mostly because I read all the series together. She started out with Urban Romance then transitioned to more of just Romance where the characters weren’t out here in these streets doing illegal things anymore. I feel like it was a gradual shift, in her first book Beast Aasim was definitely a boss in the streets and so were the West brothers but slowly her characters got out of the game and had legal businesses and jobs. I actually enjoyed this slow transition.
What I also enjoyed about this catalog was Skye Moon did not shy away from the serious issues such as rape, abuse, cheating, neglect, etc which is what I think made her characters so relatable. Her characters were real, raw, and flawed, they made me angry, cry, and laugh. I was even able to empathize with characters I didn’t like. I think I have said this in multiple reviews but my favorite thing about Skye Moon’s writing is the friendships and/or sibling bonds in every
book. These weren’t fake friendships they were real friends who kept it real with each other and supported one another. When one fought so did the other and if one messed up the other kept it real and told them about themselves. One thing I love about indie romance authors in the steamy lovemaking. In the beginning I felt like Skye Moon was a little timid w/the sex scenes but baby as she wrote more the sex scenes started to get very hot and steamy honey, and I was definitely here for it.
Skye Moon has a way of capturing your attention in the first chapter making it difficult for you to put the book down. There were many nights I stayed up late just to finish her books. I didn’t get bored with her catalog at all. She is also a master with the cliff hangers, I was so glad the entire series was available by the time I got to her catalog because Skye left me hanging with questions many nights and I just had to say fuck this sleep I need answers now! Reading through Skye Moon’s catalog introduced me to Bella Jay, Tay Mo’nae, and Cassandra B aka Aubree Pynn. I love that these ladies collaborated together and can’t wait to read through their catalogs in 2022 and 2023…listen these ladies wrote a lot of books so it’s gonna take me a while to get through them lol.
All in all I truly enjoyed reading through Skye Moon’s catalog this year and will definitely be reading everything she releases. There is a little something for every romance reader whether you like a fairytale retelling, a little urban romance, steamy sex scenes, a little suspense, or a quick and easy romance story.
